Ahead of the release of his eighth studio project, R&B superstar Tank kicked off his Savage Tour with a high energy set at Nashville’s City Winery last Tuesday, Sept. 5, with special guest Sammie. Tank‘s “Savage” LP drops on Sept. 29.

The veteran crooner, who also spent time in R&B super group TGT with fellow heart throbs Ginuwine and Tyrese, took fans on a sonic journey, revealing some of his new Savage tracks like: “F It Up,” “When We” and then performing some favorites from his catalogue, including “Slowly,” “Maybe I Deserve,” “You Don’t Know” and his latest summer jam “F***in Wit Me.”

Commanding a stage backlit with a large “TANK” display, Tank played to his strengths starting the show with a signature “Savage” jacket worn open, showcasing his six-pack abs. He later pulled a wardrobe change, appearing in an all-white fit that made for an exciting contrast to the dimly lit, intimate venue.

One of the show’s highlights was a special moment when Tank sang an acapella shout out about each member of the audience who was trying to grab his attention.  In another lighthearted moment, he took time to crack jokes about Tyrese, as well as cover Ginuwine’s popular “Bachelor” anthem. Of course, he reassured fans that the trio would be reuniting soon for the fans.

In a rare moment that sent the audience wild, Tank snuck from backstage to dance along to the playing of Cardi B.’s popular single, “Bodak Yellow.” (Sidenote: Cardi B. is set to perform during the TSU Homecoming weekend at new venue Rumba Room, 2675 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville.

Bottom line: Overall, it was a great show and venue. The ambiance was a grown and sexy mature crowd. Following the show, he even hosted a surprise meet and greet for fans who purchased merchandise.  I highly recommend you check out this show in a city near you if you missed out!
