Lydia Dumas, a Detroit native, is employed with Vanderbilt University Medical Center as an Associate HR Business Partner, in which she focuses on HR Consulting, analytics, and building strategic partnerships with VUMC colleagues. She also serves on the Diversity & Inclusion Council for VUMC. With a passion for connecting others, Lydia has launched HR Connect Nashville, a resource group dedicated to connecting Human Resources Professionals in the Middle Tennessee area. Small business owners are also encouraged to connect with affiliates of the resource group for a variety of pertinent HR Consulting Services.
Lydia is very active in the Nashville community. Currently, she serves on the Executive Committee for Urban League Young Professionals of Middle Tennessee as Membership Co-Chair, and is active on several committees within the organization. She has volunteered or served in a leadership capacity for many organizations like American Cancer Society Jr. Board, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Young Leadership Committee, and Lupus Foundation – Mid South Chapter.
Lydia earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, with a Minor in Public Administration from Grand Valley State University, and a Master of Public Administration with a Certificate in Health Care Administration from Tennessee State University. Lydia enjoys traveling, has recently started a book club, and serves as a mentor to young women. In summer 2017, Lydia will launch a nonprofit geared towards the betterment of Nashville’s displaced community members.
